Do not confuse airport access with the Athens Riviera drive

A journey starting at the airport is different from a coastal excursion starting in central Athens. Compare the airport-to-Sounion route directly before adding Riviera stops. Lavrio can be relevant to an east-Attica itinerary, but it is a separate port destination, not another name for Cape Sounion.

Build the day around the temple visit

The Temple of Poseidon is the main landmark at the cape. Check the official visiting hours and last admission before deciding on a sunset arrival. A late arrival can leave too little time to park and walk to the entrance, even if the road itself is clear. Keep the visit optional after a significant flight delay.

Driving back after sunset

Arrange the return route before you lose daylight, and choose a driver who is comfortable with unfamiliar roads at night.
