What does no excess mean?
The excess is the amount that may remain your responsibility for a covered event under the rental protection terms. With a €0 excess option, that amount can be reduced to zero for the damage covered by that option. It does not mean every type of damage, loss or use of the car is covered.
Zero excess and zero deposit are different
The security deposit is money held or collected as security. The excess relates to your responsibility under the protection terms. An offer can have a low or zero deposit while still having an excess, or offer a reduced excess with a separate deposit. Check both figures.
Check the exclusions before choosing
Read the terms for tyres, wheels, glass, the underside, interior damage, keys and misfuelling. Check restrictions on unpaved roads, ferry travel and unauthorised drivers. Coverage can also depend on complying with incident reporting and other rental conditions.
Direct zero excess or a reimbursement product?
Some protection changes what the supplier can charge under its terms. A reimbursement product may instead require you to pay a charge first and claim it back afterwards. Compare the actual policy wording, claim requirements and any deposit still required.
How to compare the complete price
Choose your destination, dates and pickup point, then open the selected car’s protection details. Check the excess amount after any optional upgrade and include the upgrade cost in the trip total. Also verify the accepted payment methods, deposit, delivery and return arrangements.
